Why Props Matter for Filmmakers We did not invest a fortune in props just to become hoarders. In fact, many of our props were very expensive and difficult to find. It seems like most independent filmmakers are quite satisfied with finding a cheap location to film and working with whatever is on site. Very little planning or time designing sets which makes those productions stand out as amateurish and sloppy. We watch big productions and ignore how much effort goes into set design.
